Care Tips for Leather, Linen & Fabric Sofas

Your sofa is the heart of your home — a place to rest, gather, and unwind. To keep it beautiful for years to come, here’s how to clean and care for different types of upholstery.

🛋 Leather Sofas

Timeless, luxurious, and surprisingly low-maintenance.

Regular Care

  • Dust weekly using a soft, dry microfiber cloth.
  • Vacuum crevices gently using a soft brush attachment.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and heat to avoid fading or cracking.

Deep Cleaning (Every 3–6 months)

  • Mix a few drops of mild liquid soap with warm water.
  • Dampen a cloth (never soak it) and wipe the surface gently.
  • Follow with a dry cloth to remove excess moisture.
  • Optional: Apply a leather conditioner to keep the material supple.

Tip: Never use alcohol-based cleaners or harsh chemicals.

🪑 Linen & Cotton Sofas

Natural, breathable, and elegant — but more delicate.

Regular Care

  • Vacuum weekly using a low-suction setting to remove dust and lint.
  • Flip and fluff cushions to maintain shape and reduce wear.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — do not rub.

Deep Cleaning (Every 3–6 months)

  • Spot clean using mild upholstery shampoo or fabric-safe soap diluted with water.
  • Test on an inconspicuous area first.
  • Use a white sponge or cloth to avoid dye transfer.
  • Air dry naturally — avoid direct heat or sun.

Note: Linen is more prone to wrinkles and marks. Use a fabric steamer for light creases.

🧵 Fabric Sofas (Polyester, Blends, etc.)

Durable and family-friendly — great for everyday use.

Regular Care

  • Vacuum weekly, especially if you have pets.
  • Use a lint roller to remove hair and debris.
  • Rotate cushions to promote even wear.

Deep Cleaning (Every 3–6 months)

  • Mix a solution of mild detergent + warm water.
  • Use a soft cloth to gently blot stains.
  • For stubborn spots, use a fabric cleaner approved for your sofa type.
  • Let air dry completely before use.

Caution: Avoid over-wetting. Too much moisture can leave water stains or damage the foam.

🟢 Extra Sofa Care Tips

  • Use slipcovers or throws for added protection.
  • Treat new stains as soon as possible — speed is key.
  • Consider professional cleaning once a year for best results.
